Spoon River jumped to early leads in each game to sweep the Carl Sandburg College softball team 9-4 and 10-3 on Thursday afternoon at the William “Bill” Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

Key Moment
Holding a slim 2-0 lead, the Snappers tacked on three in the fifth and four in the sixth for a 9-0 advantage, which helped them hold on despite a four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth for the Chargers.

Shay Anderson (Stronghurst, Ill./West Central) and Katie Droste (Biggsville, Ill./West Central), the top two batters in the Chargers’ lineup, each went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a stolen base.
